Worth Added Tax On Petrol, Diesel Hiked In Punjab

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated VAT on petrol can be raised by 61 paise (file).

The Punjab Cupboard on Thursday gave approval to hike value-added tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel by 61 paise a litre and 92 paise per litre, respectively.

A call on this regard was taken by the council of ministers in a gathering chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann right here.

Addressing the media after the Cupboard assembly, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated the choice has been taken to boost VAT on petrol and diesel.

He stated VAT on petrol can be raised by 61 paise and 92 paise a litre for diesel.

Cheema stated the hike in VAT on gas will result in a rise in income by Rs 395 crore from diesel and Rs 150 crore from petrol.
