Who’s Phangnon Konyak, First Girl MP From Nagaland To Preside Over Rajya Sabha? 5 Factors

S Phangnon Konyak, an MP from the BJP, turned the primary lady from Nagaland to preside over the Rajya Sabha yesterday. Home Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar had nominated her and three different girls members to the panel of vice-chairpersons on July 17.

  1. In April 2022, Ms Konyak turned the primary lady to be elected to the Rajya Sabha from Nagaland and the second lady from the state to be elected to the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha or the state Meeting. She adopted Rano M Shaiza, who was elected to the Lok Sabha in 1977. 

  2. Ms Konyak hails from Dimapur in Nagaland, the place she accomplished her education. She then moved to Delhi, the place she pursued a Grasp’s Diploma in English Literature from Daulat Ram Faculty, which is affiliated to the College of Delhi.

  4. Ms Konyak is a member of the Committee on Transport, Tourism and Tradition and the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Growth of North Jap Area. She can also be a part of the Committee on Empowerment of Ladies and Governing Council of the North-Jap Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Well being and Medical Sciences, Shillong.

  5. The BJP MP was nominated to the panel of vice-chairpersons with Fauzia Khan of the Nationalist Congress Celebration (NCP), nominated MP PT Usha and Sulata Deo of the Biju Janata Dal. All 4 of them are first-term parliamentarians. The panel had 4 male members, bringing the power of ladies to 50%.
