Temple Defaced With Anti-Hindu Graffiti In US, Second Time In 8 Days

The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in California was on Wednesday desecrated with expletive-laden anti-Hindu messages, within the second such incident within the US in as many weeks. The BAPS Public Affairs stated their temple in Sacramento was desecrated with a “Hindus return!” message. 

“We stand united in opposition to hate with prayers for peace,” they stated in a publish on X.

The Sacramento Police stated that they had been investigating a “vandalism being categorized as a hate crime” on the BAPS Hindu Temple in Mather. 

Those that defaced the temple additionally reduce water traces on the property, the police stated.

Following the incident, Hindu group leaders gathered on the temple in Sacramento for a prayer ceremony calling for “peace and unity”.

“I strongly condemn this obvious act of vandalism in our group. All of us should stand in opposition to intolerance and be sure that everybody in our group, no matter religion, feels protected and revered,” he posted on X.

Ro Khanna, one other Indian-American Congressman, stated “this kind of hate in opposition to Hindu People and vandalism is appalling and morally fallacious”. 

“The Division of Justice should examine these hate crimes, and people accountable must be held absolutely accountable underneath the regulation,” Mr Khanna stated.
