A portion of a historic bridge on the Ganga connecting Kanpur and Unnao, constructed in the course of the British interval, fell into the river within the early hours of Tuesday, locals stated.

Locals claimed that the bridge close to the Ganga ghat was in-built 1874 by the Avadh and Rohilkhand Railway Restricted Firm within the Shuklaganj space of Unnao district.

Ashu Awasthi, a neighborhood, stated, “A portion between two pillars of the bridge fell into the Ganga after 2 am. Nobody was harm because the bridge was closed for visitors.” One other native, Panda Raju, stated the bridge was closed in 2021 after cracks appeared.
