No case of caste discrimination and alienation of SC and ST college students have been reported from Indian Institutes of Expertise (IITs) within the final 5 years, the Ministry of Schooling stated on Wednesday.
The knowledge was shared by Union Minister of State for Schooling Subhas Sarkar in response to a written query in Rajya Sabha.
The Minister knowledgeable that seven instances of suicides by SC and ST college students have been reported in IITs whereas the identical variety of college students from the 2 classes in Central Universities died by suicide since 2018.
“No instances of caste discrimination and alienation in SC and ST college students have been reported from IITs within the final 5 years. With regard to Central Universities (CUs), no information of caste discrimination is maintained centrally.
