IIT Bombay has named its iconic fundamental constructing after alumnus and Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani in recognition of his philanthropic help to the Institute.
The principle constructing of the institute can be named “Nandan Nilekani Most important Constructing”, mentioned Indian Institute of Know-how, Bombay in an official launch.
Final month, Mr Nilekani donated Rs 315 crore to his alma mater to mark 50 years of his affiliation with the institute, following which the IIT-Bombay college students had highlighted the poor state of a number of the infrastructure on the premier institute.
“In recognition of his esteemed service and philanthropic help to the Institute, IIT Bombay’s Board of Governors deliberated and determined to dedicate its iconic Most important Constructing to him,” the discharge mentioned.
Mr Nilekani and IIT-Bombay director Subhasis Chaudhuri had been current on the unveiling of the plaque at present.
“I’m deeply grateful to the Board of Governors of IIT Bombay for this unimaginable honour. Mr Nilekani had tweeted on June 20 his resolution to donate Rs 315 crore to IIT-Bombay to mark 50 years of his affiliation with the institute. Following this, the scholars there had mentioned they need part of his donation for use for enhancing the institute’s infrastructure.
