Congress chief and senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi was on Tuesday elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Telangana in a bypoll.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Senior Vice President G Niranjan obtained the certificates of election on behalf of Mr Singhvi from the returning officer in Hyderabad.

An impartial candidate had filed nomination for the bypoll nevertheless it was rejected throughout scrutiny.

Mr Singhvi was the only real candidate within the fray and he was introduced as elected on Tuesday, the final date for withdrawal of candidatures.
