Coastal districts of Odisha will obtain heavy rainfall and thunderstorm beneath the influence of Nor’wester from Wednesday, IMD mentioned.

The India Meteorological Division has issued warning of thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by heavy rain for a number of districts of the state until March 31.

Regional Director Bhubaneswar MeT Workplace Habibur Rahman Biswas informed PTI that in final 24 hours a number of coastal Odisha districts and interiors districts of Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri obtained heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.

Padia in Malkangiri district obtained 47.0 mm, Korei in Jajpur 36 mm and Bhubaneswar 8.8 mm of rainfall on Tuesday.

The warning issued for April 1 mentioned heavy rainfall (7 cm to 11 cm) possible at one or two locations in districts of Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Cuttack and Dhenkanal.

Pretty widespread thunderstorm with rain very and thunderstorms with lightning, remoted hail, heavy rain and gusty floor wind velocity reaching 40-50 kmph is probably going in some districts on March 31, said the MeT bulletin.

In the meantime, Collectors of various districts have been suggested to maintain administrative equipment able to face any eventuality.

“Folks have been suggested to maintain a watch on the climate and take protected shelter throughout thunderstorms to guard themselves from lightning,” a launch from the Particular Reduction Commisioner’s workplace mentioned.
