A mother-son duo was booked for allegedly killing a canine by hanging it from a tree in Maharashtra’s Pune district, police have mentioned.
The alleged crime was dedicated within the Pirangut space of Mulshi tehsil and a case was registered in opposition to Prabhavati Jagtap and her son Omkar Jagtap, an official mentioned on Thursday.
Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Aaditya Thackeray had raised the incident on social media, whereas Padmini Stump, an animal activist who runs Mission Doable Basis that operates a shelter house for canine, approached the Pune rural police with a grievance in opposition to the mom and son.
“On October 22, Prabhavati allegedly assaulted their pet Labrador with a stick. Later, her son Omkar hanged the canine from a tree. We have now booked them underneath Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act,” Paud Highway police station senior inspector Santosh Girigosavi mentioned.
Earlier than killing the canine, the household had known as up one canine lover from Pimpri and requested her to come back and take the canine away, the official mentioned.
