Six folks have been killed and 5 others injured after a automobile by which they have been travelling rammed right into a truck in Odisha’s Sundargarh district early on Saturday, police mentioned.
The accident occurred close to Gaikanapali space below the Hemgiri Police Station limits when the passenger-carrying van hit the truck from behind, a senior officer mentioned.
“Six members of a ‘kirtan’ group died on the spot, and 5 others have been injured. Perhaps, the accident occurred resulting from fog within the space,” he mentioned.
The ‘kirtan’ social gathering went to Chakkplai village for a programme on the event of Diwali, and the accident passed off once they have been returning to their villages.
The deceased folks belonged to Kandagoda and Samarpinda villages within the district.
The injured individuals have been admitted to an area hospital, the officer mentioned.
Native folks blocked the highway, demanding ex gratia for the victims’ households.
