On Saturday, Chief Minister Lalduhoma mentioned the Assam Rifles will begin shifting out of the Aizawl headquarters in April to a base in Zokhawsang, about 15 km from town. He mentioned a memorandum of settlement (MoA) was signed at Mizoram Home in New Delhi on Wednesday.  

The signatories to the settlement are Vanlaldina Fanai, Commissioner and Secretary to the Authorities of Mizoram, and Lieutenant Common Vikas Lakhera, the Director Common of Assam Rifles. 

Mr Lalduhoma mentioned the MoA will come into impact from April 1, 2025, and building of some amenities at Zokhawsang is but to be accomplished.

The chief minister added that the Authorities of Mizoram pays a depreciated value to Assam Rifles by April 2025 and all of the locations handed over by the pressure to the state shall be reserved for public functions underneath the Mizoram (Restriction on Use of Transferred Land) Act, 2022.
